Households with registered voters will soon receive a letter from the Secretary of State explaining that closed party primaries will be used for federal and state offices including U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Louisiana Supreme Court, PSC, and BESE starting in 2026 — only registered party members may vote in that party's primary. The educational mailpiece is the start of a statewide campaign urging voters to keep their registrations updated and directing them to an official online resource for additional details.

Residents filled the room at today's Slidell mayoral debate as they listened to remarks from Mayor Bill Borchert and Police Chief Randy Fandal—each candidate outlining their priorities for the city's future.
