EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kent Design Build finished its summer internship program, giving four students 12 weeks of hands-on construction experience (gaining skills and mentoring support). The program ended with capstone presentations (showing their progress and future career plans).  AN17
  • This week is National Coding Week and students on the Northshore are getting ready to test their tech skills—Northshore Robotics will help them learn coding. Local schools are working with the robotics team to set up coding activities that improve tech learning.  WWL-TV
  • Miss Southeastern Eva Delatte and SLU Lionettes will host a dance camp called Where Dreams and Roars Collide from October 3–4 at the Pennington Center for kids ages 5–10—participants will enjoy games, arts and crafts with a special visit from Roomie the Lion and a closing showcase. The camp is part of Delatte’s DREAM initiative that uses the performing arts to boost creativity and confidence.  AN17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Florida Parishes Human Services Authority announced today that JoBeth Valentino has been appointed to its Governing Board as the Washington Parish representative—her 30 years in social services will support better care for behavioral health and developmental disabilities in the region.  AN17
  • DOTD is partnering with the new Office of Louisiana Highway Construction to bundle 62 old bridges into construction groups so they can be replaced or fixed soon. The bundled projects include the LA 36 Creek bridge in St. Tammany Parish — one of the first seven scheduled for work as part of the Transforming Transportation initiative.  AN17

SPORTS NEWS

  • After their recent loss, Saints fans remained upbeat as they exchanged friendly trash talk and voiced optimism for future games—showing strong loyalty to their team. Local supporters say their confidence remains firm even after the setback.  FOX 8
