CULTURE NEWS

  • The new Adoration Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville is open 24 hours every day for prayer and meditation—doubling the size of the original 1952 shrine and designed by Louisiana architect Nathaniel Frank.  WGNO
  • Bayou Jam concert season kicked off in Slidell on September 16 by offering live shows with local music acts. Organizers say the season will run through the fall—drawing fans from the community.  The Times-Picayune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The North Shore Square Economic Development District said Tuesday that private investors will lead the mall's redevelopment. City leaders said the change will help improve Northshore Boulevard — and bring new opportunities to the area.  FOX 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two challengers will face incumbent Darren Lombard in the race for Clerk of Criminal District Court as Election Day draws near. Voters will choose the new clerk — a decision that will shape the court's future.  WWL-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Louisiana Department of Health said a fifth person died from the flesh-eating bacteria Vibrio vulnificus, which can make people sick when raw oysters are eaten or wounds touch coastal waters. The department said 26 cases were reported in 2025 — far exceeding the average of 10 cases and one death per year.  WDSU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Northshore Panthers rallied to earn their first win in a five-set volleyball match against rival Fontainebleau on September 16—senior setter Emily Martin led with 38 assists, 27 digs and 12 kills as the team came from behind to secure a 19-25, 25-11, 22-25, 25-22, 15-12 road win.  The Times-Picayune
