CULTURE NEWS

  • Arthur Hardy, the No. 1 Mardi Gras Authority, said he will retire after Fat Tuesday 2026—festive tributes are planned during Carnival season to honor his work.  WWL-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • South Louisiana communities continue to struggle with high flood insurance rates—local officials plan to meet with state agencies to review policy changes that may lower costs. They will consider new proposals in upcoming meetings to ease the burden on residents.  FOX 8

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The recent Drought Monitor report shows that parts of our region—marked by low soil moisture and little recent rainfall—face an increased risk of drought. Forecasts expect a drier than normal fall, and local officials and farmers may soon adjust water use if conditions worsen.  FOX 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office is asking for help to find the families of two women who died of natural causes. Dale Serene Martin was found in her Mandeville home on July 15 and Julia Elaine Brown was found in her Abita Springs home on Aug. 5 — anyone with information is urged to call Investigator Chris Knoblauch at 985-781-1150.  WGNO
