  • On Nov 23, the Slidell Ladies for Liberty packed care packages with necessities and treats for deployed service members; returning service member Cameron Bangs—who had just returned from Jordan—visited to thank the volunteers—who included his mother, volunteer Crystal Singletary—and the group for their efforts.  The Times-Picayune

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday night, newlywed nurse Heather Schubert stopped her car on I-10 to help a man critically injured in a car crash while still in her wedding dress—she provided emergency care until EMS arrived and his condition remains unclear.  WDSU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tangipahoa Parish Schools announced ongoing growth in the 2025 state accountability results—overall district scores rose by 2.3 points and the Strength of Diploma Index reached 92.6 percent. Twenty-two schools improved their performance with several moving up a full letter grade—only one school remains F-rated.  AN17
  • Myla Dotey, a student at Mater Dolorosa Catholic School in Independence, has been named a Varsity Spirit All-American to join over 800 cheerleaders on a Thanksgiving tour at Magic Kingdom Park—she earned the honor after a rigorous tryout. She will perform with elite athletes and attend special events at Walt Disney World while preparing to continue her performance career at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School.  AN17

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Saints returned from their bye with high hopes but lost 24-10 to the Falcons after failing to convert key scoring opportunities—twice inside the Falcons' five-yard line their drives yielded only three points. Atlanta’s offense, featuring a 49-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass and three field goals, dropped the Saints to 2-9 with six games remaining.  WWL-TV
  • Teacher Mama T—who went viral after scoring her first Saints tickets—was given a VIP welcome on the Dome turf in New Orleans where she met Alvin Kamara.  WWL-TV
  • Mandeville sophomore Avery Daigle set two individual composite state records in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke events at the Division I state swim meet on November 22 at the SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur — she also helped her team break a composite record in the 200-yard medley relay.  The Times-Picayune
