- ➤ At a December 9 board meeting, St. Tammany Fire Protection District 11 named Fire Operator Jarrett Simmons Firefighter of the Year — Fire Chief Jack Dockery said Simmons’ dedication and professionalism have quickly made him a valued team member. AN17
- ➤ Starting January 4, claimants must complete at least five work-search activities weekly to qualify for unemployment benefits as required by new rules. Missing scheduled interviews or refusing job offers may end benefits, officials with Louisiana Works said. Louisiana Radio Network

- ➤ The New Family Center at St. Tammany Health System in Covington was named to U.S. News + World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list for delivering quality maternal care, making it one of only two Louisiana hospitals to earn the honor and a new Maternity Care Access designation.
