ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers with Wild Ones’ Pontchartrain Basin chapter rescued 23 native plant species — including white-topped sedge and daisy fleabane — from a highway development site in St. Tammany to preserve local biodiversity. They will hold similar plant rescue and education events to protect Louisiana’s unique natural habitats. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Slidell will host a glass collection for recycling on June 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Operations yard on Bayou Lane — located between West Hall and West Pennsylvania. The city will then hold collections on the second Saturday of each month — in April, more than 65 vehicles participated and in May over 4,000 pounds of glass was collected. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ On Thursday, the St. Tammany Parish Council will hear residents’ complaints about Magnolia Water after many reported brown, smelly water and rising bills. Local homeowners say the private utility—now managed by Central States Water Resources—has not provided clear details on boil advisories or needed repairs. The Times-Picayune
